Focused Sustainable Development Goals
The 2025 HLPF concentrated on five key Sustainable Development Goals to review global and national progress:
SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being
Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. The forum examined global health systems, access to healthcare, disease prevention, and strategies to improve health outcomes.
SDG 5 – Gender Equality
Achieving equality for women and girls, empowering them socially, economically, and politically. Discussions focused on eliminating discrimination, promoting equal opportunities, and addressing barriers to education and leadership roles.
SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
Promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth while providing decent work opportunities for all. The forum highlighted job creation, fair wages, labor rights, and policies for resilient economies.
SDG 14 – Life Below Water
Conserving and sustainably using oceans, seas, and marine resources. The forum addressed marine biodiversity protection, ocean pollution, and sustainable fisheries management.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
Strengthening global partnerships to implement the SDGs effectively. Discussions included international cooperation, financing for development, and collaborative action across sectors.
Participation
The 2025 HLPF hosted over 800 participants, including:
- 100+ ministers and government leaders from UN member states
- Representatives from United Nations agencies
- Experts from academia and research institutions
- Civil society organizations and other key stakeholders
- 300 young leaders, representing the voice and perspective of the next generation
Many participating countries presented Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs), highlighting their progress, challenges, and innovative approaches to achieving the SDGs in their respective nations. These reviews provided valuable insights into national strategies, helping other countries learn from successful practices.
