Goal 10 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals aims to reduce inequality within and among countries. This goal focuses on ensuring that no one is left behind by promoting fairness and equal opportunities for all people, regardless of their background, where they live, or their status in society.

Why Goal 10 Matters

Inequality harms societies and slows down progress. When the gap between rich and poor grows, many people lose access to healthcare, education, and good jobs. Reducing inequality helps create peace, unity, and stronger economies. It ensures that growth benefits everyone, not just a few.

Progress and Actions Supporting Goal 10

This goal is guided by 10 focused targets that guide global efforts to tackle inequality.
So far, there have been 102 events worldwide that raise awareness, share ideas, and mobilise action against inequality.
More than 15 key publications provide research insights, recommendations, and case studies to support policies that reduce disparities.
Over 1,065 actions have been implemented globally, working on inclusion, fair policies, equal opportunity, and support systems to reduce inequality.

The Situation in 2025

Some progress has been made, but inequality is still a big challenge. The gap between rich and the poor is still growing in many countries. Groups such as migrants, minorities, and people with disabilities face more barriers to education, healthcare, and jobs. Access to social protection has improved in some areas, but much more is needed. At the global level, steps have been taken to improve fairness in finance and representation, but stronger action is required to reach the 2030 targets.
